They're halfway through their time on The Block, and Mike and Andrew are feeling the strain. All those late nights are catching up with them... This week, they struggled to find the energy to complete their hallway and bedroom.
"We ran out of time. We had grandiose plans this week, and we ended up scrambling to finish," Andrew admits.
And it was obvious. The judges were let down by the lack of decorative touches in their entry space.
"I want to see some art, some personality and some furniture — there's just no 'wow'," Neil said upon stepping inside.
"I'm just bored here," Shaynna added.
Both judges picked up on the fact that there was no artwork hung in the entrance, something the boys had purchased, but had run out of time to hang.
"It was really disappointing," says Mike.
"As usual we were running around trying to get everything finished off in time," Andrew adds.
Upstairs, the judges were split. While they praised the quality of the fixtures and finishes, reactions were mixed when it came to the room's colour palate. Neil liked it, but Shaynna wasn't so sure, thinking the dark tones of their feature wall may have closed up the room too much.
This week, Mike and Andrew traded places, with Andrew taking the responsibility for styling the room.
"Maybe that wasn't such a good idea," Andrew admits, laughing.
The judges agreed.
"I think the styling, they have lost it big-time on that," Shaynna says. "Too many birds! I am thinking, 'Nanna'... But in saying that, it's a damn good room and very easy to fix."
