Presented: Children's bedroom, laundry and kitchen Score: 77.5/100 Prize: $6,000 off their reserve
They ended up coming third, but it barely seemed to matter to Brad and Lara. They were just pleased they survived the week, presented rooms they loved — and that their besties, Sophie and Dale, pulled off their massive win.
"We are really happy," says Lara. "We were up against Sophie and Dale for our kid's room. They deserved to win, because theirs was so amazing. Our kitchen and laundry turned out pretty good too though. And we actually really loved our kid's room."
"I'm pretty proud of what we managed to achieve," Brad adds.
So they should. And all the judges also loved what they pulled off in such a short space of time. Although, visually, their children's bedroom may not have had the impact of Sophie and Dale's fabulous flight of fancy, it still more than stacked up.
"It doesn't just feel fun — it's quite practical," John McGrath explained upon seeing their children's room. "I don't want to over-think it... but when I walked in here, I felt happy."
Josh and Jenna were also fans.
"Plenty of storage, nice rug, very colourful and I love the Babushkas. Nice and creative," said Josh during his walk-around.
As well as delivering their bedroom, the couple also got plenty of wows for their kitchen and laundry areas. Everyone was particularly impressed with their ingenious hanging rack, built to hang suspended from their laundry space.
"That's a great space saver," Polly pointed out.
"This is a massive laundry space," Shaynna added. "It's great. Look how shabby it was before..."
For their part, Brad and Lara can't quite believe the transformation either.
"It's been pretty full on," Brad laughs. "It was a crazy week — the amount of people working in here! To get a job this size done in a week... it was hard. It was a massive week. I can't believe we survived!"
