Score: 26/30
Halfway through judging it was neck and neck, with Dan and Dani and Brad and Lara both sitting on 16 points, courtesy of their high scores from judges John McGrath and Neil Whitaker. There was only one thing for it — Brad and Lara were going to have to use their bonus point.
But, as it turns out, they didn't need to!
"We ended up winning by two points — we would have won anyway!" Brad laughs.
"I could not imagine if we'd used the bonus point and then lost by half a point. I would have been beside myself," Lara adds, laughing.
The grand scale of the bathroom, coupled with their choice of quality, high-end fittings meant the judges were blown away by their completed room, giving them one of the highest scores so far.
"It's very sophisticated. Whereas the others went for glamour and glitz, this one has a lot of class," Shaynna points out.
"It's very 'zen' — I feel like I'm at a zen retreat!" Neil adds.
Brad and Lara had a much bigger space to work with, and the grand proportions had all three judges impressed.
"It was a beautiful organisation of space," Shaynna says. "When you first walk in, you get the vanity, then you see the toilet, then you have the walk-through shower into the luxurious free-standing bath. The 'wow factor' was just incredible."
For a while there, it was looking as though Brad and Lara's grand visions might not become a reality, with structural problems threatening to derail their plans. To top it off, some questionable concreting meant they were behind the eight ball early on. But they managed to catch up and present a truly impressive room.
"I think last week's room reveal, it really sets up our house," Lara explains. "Now you can really see what it is going to look like. When [we first arrived], I couldn't really see things ahead — I need to be able to see it in front of me. And now I can."
And the judges are also starting to understand.
"It's almost a surprise at how well they did, because our expectations weren't completely high," Shaynna admits. "I feel like this bathroom was where they really took off. They thought about their design and you can see the thought process that had gone into designing this to make it work properly."
And it’s only onwards and upwards from here on in!
