It may not be a mansion, but the three-storey property at the pinnacle of New York's Pierre Hotel is one luxury listing.

The penthouse has been home to Elizabeth Taylor, Yves Saint Laurent and even has an Australian connection having been the residence of Lady Mary Fairfax, who snapped it up in 1988 for $12 million.

Its sale to financier Martin Zweig for $21.5 million broke property records in 1999 and it seems set to do the same now it's hit the market for a whopping $125 million.
