This modern industrial-style coffee table is great fun to make – and it'll be the talking point of your living room. You can ask at your hardware store to have the tongue-and-groove planks and timber pieces cut to size.
Step 1
Screw together galvanised pipes and joints to make H-shaped ends. Screw in the long centre pipe to connect H-shaped ends. Place flanges at the bottom and top of the base to form feet and fastening plates for the timber top.
Step 2
Join the tongue-and-groove planks together. Mark where you need to drill holes to attach the base – this will ensure you don't put a supporting bracket in the way. Screw supporting brackets to tabletop.
Step 3
Carefully centre the base and top and use a pencil to mark where you need to drill holes in the timber to fasten the base and top together.
Step 4
Using a drill, secure the top to the base with nuts, bolts and washers.
Step 5
Sand timber top and coat with white liming solution. Allow to dry for 16 hours before using.
All galvanised-steel items used in our projects are from Tradelink and the tools are from Bunnings.
